Best Bathroom Scale

I use a bathroom scale every day. I read somewhere that the very act of self monitoring will trigger thoughts and actions that lead to healthy weight habits. I am not overweight and I have never been overweight, but as part of my healthy routine, weighing myself is a must.

I love digital scales for their simplicity. I use a scale that is linked to a self monitoring web site that tracks my weight and bmi. Maybe you think this is obsessive but once I set up my link to the web site and started my daily step on the scale program, it was effortless. I check in with the web site probably once a month out of curiosity. I hardly try to remember my exact weight. I don’t need to anymore because it is all stored for me in a medium that is much more conducive to drawing conclusions about my body weight. By this I mean that seeing my weight plotted in a graph over the course of a month is very very effective. I can see what weeks I was up and what weeks I was down.

I also monitor how much exercise I do and also, what I am eating. Okay this is slightly obsessive I know but some of us are really convinced that self monitoring is the way to improve our daily lives. You can see our activities if you google self monitoring. Because I do so much in the way of monitoring, I know that I can recommend a really good bathroom scale, maybe even the best bathroom scale that is out there. In my opinion this best scale is the Withings Wifi scale. It is so well made that I have not read a bad review of it, nor have I met anyone who does not rave about it.

There is even an application on the iPhone for this that will show you your weight as it relates to your weight for the last month. I don’t use this iPhone application because as mentioned I only feel it necessary to check my weight once a month. It is enough for me to have at the back of my mind the idea that I am monitoring my weight. Unconsciously I do the rest and behave in a healthy and reasonable manner as a result.

The effect of using such a good scale, no, the best bathroom scale, is that I don’t have to relentlessly attend to my weight. Ironically, by using a scale on a daily basis, I am freed from thinking about and worrying about my weight.

In summary, I recommend both self monitoring in this way, and using a web linked scale. You will benefit.
