Looking At Around-the-house Jobs As Being Zen-like Fitness Exercises
Looking at around-the-house jobs as being Zen-like fitness exercises can be a great way to gain a little fitness or even increase muscle size all without having to endure the indignities of being in a gym filled with a lot of interesting smells and more than a few bulging biceps. Though people may not appreciate the purity involved in Zen and housework it’s probably because they don’t have the necessary focus as yet.
Though we might think it a bit unlikely, it’s a fact that doing things like what Mr. Miyagi had Ralph Macchio do in the Karate Kid (i. E. ‘wax on, wax off’) can actually be a way to build up the muscles all without even thinking that hard about it. For instance, go grab a 5 or 10 gallon wet dry vacuum and practice pushing it around while cleaning. It’ll build a little muscle, and be Zen on top of it.
It may seem a bit unusual or eccentric at first, but there is a lot of truth to the saying that the body will follow the mind in mutual achievement if it is desired. In other words, the mind can help the body overcome just about everything and this is true in the gym or in the home. So begin practicing calmness in a Zen-like way when doing housework and appreciating it for what it is.
To use an example, go out to the garage and begin cleaning it out, appreciating everything that is occurring right at that moment. Pick up those old garden blowers sitting in the corner of the garage and put one in each hand. Walk outside and begin going up and down the garden holding them out at the site as far as possible. Appreciate the beauty around you. Fitness will soon begin to show up, also.
What the point of all this mainly revolves around is showing one that there are a myriad of ways in which fitness can be cultivated without actually trying to be fit. Look at it metaphysically as a mind/body journey where meditating on everything but bodybuilding can be extremely Zen-like. Truly, there are more than enough activities around the house that can accomplish fitness growth.
This is so even for the 80-year-old great-grandmother sitting on the porch doing needlepoint or sewing a quilt together. Practicing and focusing completely on the needlework but appreciating how simple and beautiful it is to do can keep the mind sharp, clear and also can call on the body to bring forth energies that it probably didn’t even know it had. Great Grandma is sure to appreciate it, for sure.
So, when it comes to Zen and housework what’s not to like, really? Fitness can be cultivated without even trying to do so simply because there are so many ways to go about accomplishing housework and appreciating it while doing it. The body will soon enough follow along and real fitness games can be achieved. After all, what isn’t to like about doing such activity when done with Zen?
