For many years, Americans had one choice when it came to their pay television service – cable TV. That changed in the early 1990′s, when satellite TV became affordable and practical when the size of the satellite dish was greatly reduced. But today, those that live in condominiums are oftentimes restricted when it comes to this choice.

So what can the condo dweller do? Recent rulings by the FCC have made it a bit easier for these renters and homeowners to get away from high cable television prices. Let’s consider some of the frequently asked questions in this area.

I live in a condominium, and my homeowners association restricts satellite dish installation. What can I do?

This is a difficult situation to deal with. Homeowners associations have become extremely restrictive over the years when it comes to just about everything. The bottom line is that the FCC has ruled you have the right to satellite television, though the dish may have to be placed in an area considered “exclusive use.” This means no placement of the dish in common areas.

I rent a condominium unit. Can I get satellite television service?

This oftentimes depends on the owner of the unit. Satellite TV companies generally require landlord permission, so check directly with Dish Network or DIRECTV before scheduling installation. Twenty four month contracts are also the general requirement for new satellite customers, so be sure you can fulfill your end of the bargain.

I have heard about new shared satellite TV systems. How do these work?

Many high rise apartments and condominiums have begun to allow satellite TV access to their buildings. These large scale systems give the complete building access to a satellite provider, and give you a choice when comparing satellite TV vs. cable. Check with your building manager to see if they have installed a system like this.

21st century technology is beneficial to renters and homeowners alike. With expanded availability to satellite services, cable TV companies will have to hold the line on prices in order to remain competitive. More importantly, fully evaluate the options available in obtaining satellite television in your condo .

The television has been the most used entertainment device in almost all homes in the United States ever since it was invented. It is still the top media source in the home, though the home computer is gaining ground, and it looks like it will stay that way for a long time to come. It has surpassed both newspapers and radio transmission media in terms of audience and profitability. But pay television relies on a service provider and the two kinds to pick from are satellite TV or cable television.

Cable TV is transmitted through optical fiber cables and coaxial cables. The big advantage of cable television is that it the quality of its signal is not deterred in any way by mountains, trees or any other geographical limitations. The disadvantage from the cable company point of view is that it is very expensive to continually expand and maintain the cabling needed to broadcast the network content. Today cable TV is offered by more companies compared to satellite, as the market is more fractured. Well known companies are Comcast, Charter cable, Mediacom, Time Warner, and Cox cable. The competition to be the biggest and best cable company will ensure you that you will get your money’s worth.

Satellite dish TV is the alternative to cable and is offered by just two companies in America. First is Dishnetwork and the other is Direct TV. Both of which rely on the receivers given to their subscribers and they use communication satellites in order to deliver their programs. They usually have more stations compared to Comcast basic cable and usually cost a little bit less than cable. Of course the capital expense involved here are the satellites that must be sent into orbit. There are plenty of places to read Direct TV reviews and find out more about the company.

One of the good things about satellite is the wide variety of sports programming. You can watch all kinds of football with the NFL Sunday Ticket. If you prefer the college game, the ESPN Game Plan 2009 choice is the way to go.

The good news for any consumer is the wide variety of choices they can choose from. Whether the preference be based on programming, prices, packages or customer service; the consumer will be able to find a suitable provider for him or her.

At this time in the United States, it is estimated that there are almost 50 million people who either speak Spanish as their first or second language. You probably have seen it in your own town, more business owners are looking for ways to offer products and services to Spanish speaking individuals.

With so many Spanish speakers here in the US, it also means that individuals and families are looking for entertainment in their native tongue. Fortunately for these people, there are now several choices in the cable and satellite television marketplace. Big players like Comcast, Time Warner cable, Direct TV and Dish Network all have expanded their channel lineups in order to bring in more Spanish language networks.

In the past, a Spanish speaking subscriber would be lucky if he or she were able to get four or five Spanish stations. But today, services like Direct TV Mas offer upwards of 45 Spanish language networks. These include the well known channels such as Telemundo and Univision.Other popular channels now available with Direct TV Mas are ESPN Desportes, Azteca Mexico, and even Cartoon Network in Spanish for the kids.

The main competitor to the Direct TV Mas Spanish package is the Dish Latino package offered by satellite TV company Dish Network. For quite some time, Dish Network was the leader in Spanish language programming, but in recent years the Direct TV Mas packages has become the top choice in the Spanish community.Much of this is also due to the momentum Direct TV has built up with their exclusive sports packages like the NFL Ticket and the Nascar Hotpass racing series. Competition with Dish Network insures that more DIRECTV Mas Spanish channels will be added in the months ahead.

Direct TV Mas packages start as low as .99 per month for the first year of programming with the Basico package. Of course, DIRECTV Mas offers packages that have premium movie channels as well, such as Lo Maximo. This bundle is similar to the Direct TV Premier package, an all inclusive deal with almost 300 channels.

One of the best things about modern cable and satellite television is the explosion of sports programming now available to customers across the country. While 20 years ago you might find two college football games on Saturday and two pro games on Sunday, today you can literally pick from two dozen or more games every weekend. Even the NCAA tournament has additional coverage with the Mega March Madness on Direct TV.

The motto today is “Content is King” and as the saying goes the sports networks of course want to deliver as much content as possible to the sports fan so they can make more money on advertising. Lots of new all-sports channels have sprung up in the past few years. Included among these are Altitude Sports, which carries Nuggets from Denver and Colorado Avalanche matches, and also the Big Ten Network and the mtn, the broadcast home of the Mountain West conference.

Sure these channels are good for folks in certain regions of the country, but disagreements between the providers of content and cable networks that deliver the content have brought difficulties to the customer. Consider what happened last fall, the Big Ten Network began broadcasting in 2007, but the network was in a carraige dispute with cable TV provider Time Warner. Customers of Time Warner in the midwest were not able to see some of the local teams play due to this dispute. Finally however, the companies involved came to an agreement before the fall football season, so customers could remain with with Time Warner rather than having to switch over to one of the satellite television companies such as DISH Network or DirecTV. An important thing to do when considering providers is to consider all factors, comparing DIRECTV against Time Warner.

Specialized sports programming packages are another option hard core sports fans should consider. Many Comcast customers have switched to DirecTV because the NFL Sunday ticket is exlusively on satellite. This has upset some pay television subscribers, who do not understand why a package Sunday Ticket isn’t available to every provider, especially a bicompany like Time Warner. Alternative sports packages though are more friendly to subscribers, like the NHL Center Ice and the NBA League Pass, which are available on almost every cable TV and satellite company. DIRECTV seems to have all of the premium sports packages like the NFL Sunday Ticket package.

In the early 1990s, satellite television was first introduced to the market. It was understandable that only a number of people actually went out of their way to get their hands on a satellite dish. After all, the dish was a lot more expensive just as its size was considered inconvenient and intrusive.

At the time, satellite dish owners also used it to be able to access channels from around the world or channels that are not meant for mass audiences. The interesting thing though, people did not readilyget these channels. They had to look for those signals that is usually by chance alone.

This is no longer the case nowadays. If you want a particular channel, all you have to do is sign up with a direct broadcast satellite provider or DBS provider. A DBS provider, such as Directv and Dish Network, is the one who chooses the channels from the programming sources and brings it to your television sets. Simply sign up, an installer comes out and puts up a satellite dish for you and connects it to all of your television sets inside the home. In most cases, homeowners can have up to four different rooms set up to receive satellite TV signals. This is definitely an advantage when doing a comparison between Direct TV vs Dish TV.

Satellite television is not only limited to the number of channels you can have. There is also a satellite HD that feeds apt programs for your hi definition television set. HDTV has a bigger resolution that gives way to maximum viewing pleasure. These shows also come with surround sound that pretty much takes the cake for TV and home theatre enthusiasts alike. Best of all, there are so many DIRECTV deals out there today. Spanish speaking customers can take advantage of the Direct TV Mas packages.

The enjoyment it brings take another turn with the arrival of the technology of a DVR. A DVR is a recording device meant for television programs. This device gives more control over live television that fanatics no longer have to fret about missing their most wanted shows. Truly a great way catch up on what you might miss on DirecTV.

100% Hi Definition Service.

If you’re a cable TV subscriber, your service provider most likely carries around 20 to 50 channels in hi def. But if you have access to satellite television, chances are you’re enjoying up to 100 channels that have nice crisp pictures and flawless reception.

Currently, not even the largest cable TV companies like Comcast, Time Warner, Brighthouse, Cox and Charter Cable can compare to DirecTV’s 130+ channels you can watch on HD. By the end of the year, DirecTV projects satellite TV subscribers will be watching up to150 channels in high definition. Put that HDTV to good use and maximize your viewing experience through satellite TV!

View More, Pay Less.

The pro-con list could go on and satellite would still emerge superior to its cable counterpart. However, it all boils down to this: You get to see more for a price that won’t burn a hole in your pocketbook. With satellite, you get more features, more movies, more music, more cartoons, more sports, more HD! You’ll receive more of virtually everything each month. Great sports programming like the NBA League Pass are also available for an extra charge. What more could a customer ask for?

Free Set-up.

Most cable providers charge you up to $100 for sending out a technician to gear up your television sets. Satellite TV providers Dish Network and DirecTV offer free installation and setup in order to make things easy. You no longer have to worry about reading the fine print or fees that cable companies (over)charge one time or monthly.

Multi-media Difference.

Radio on TV?! The limits of media are once again broken, but in a good way for the subscriber. Subscription to Dish Network gives you access to Sirius Satellite, so you can listen to the best music all day long once you’re tired of watching tv.

Family Friendly Packages.

With your current cable subscription you get basic packages with channels picked for you. However, satellite services from Dish Network and DirecTV program packages that will cater to all members of the family. Everyone should be able to enjoy viewing without worrying what they young ones are seeing. These satellite packages ensure that kids see age-appropriate as well as educational shows.

Comparing your local cable company, such as Comcast vs Direct TV might save you some money. Switch now to a great deal from DirecTV if you don’t want to regret missing out on anything.

I’ve been wanting to get away from Comcast digital cable for quite a while. The issue is they give you a great combo with their packages that include telepone, internet, and cable television service. When customers want to remove one, you lose the savings of the bundle.

But the cable TV setup just needs to go, as the channel selection and quality is below average. There is so much talk today about hi def, there isn’t much selection with Charter cable TV. So I began doing a little research on who else was providing service in my neck of the woods.

I happen to be one of the people who have a few options. Unlike a few people who can only choose from either the cable company or DIRECTV satellite service, I have a third choice in my region. The old telephone company in this area has been upgrading the telephone network. So I have an additional player with Verizon and their fiber optic service.

That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have similar problems. It could put someone in the same boat as with the cable television company, as the phone guys want customers to package their television setup with high speed and voice service. If the deal works out well, I’ll be satisfied. But if its not you’re in the same circumstance that I’m in now with the cable operator.

Some evaluations I found on the internet are pretty good on telecom TV service. Because it is brand new, there is sometimes a learning curve with a new technology like this, and some folks share their poor reviews. Those reviews are the funny, simply for the reason customers make the decision to write a dissertation on their horrible experience and post it on the web. Unhappy customers badmouth the company like it is some giant conspiracy to make the customer unhappy, as if the corporation doesn’t want to make money!

Another option I’m looking into is of course satellite TV. Because we have four TV viewers in our home, we have subscribed in the past to a high end cable television package. The satellite TV choices seem to be pretty comparable, as the Directv Premier Package and the America’s Everything Pack from DISH Network are each about $115 a month. Yes that’s pretty high for cable television, but when you compare that to treating your family to supper and a show, the entertainment value is comparable. Some of my family speak Spanish, so the DIRECTV Mas package looks like a winner. The nice thing is that there are plenty of DirecTV pros and cons to help me decide which direction to take.

Dish Network recently released new programming bundles called TurboHD. These new programming packages are all hi definition, removing of the SD channels. Is DISH Network Turbo HD the best choice for you?

It all depends on what your looking for from your cable or satellite TV company. Some folks want every single channel that is available. They don’t care if 20 of them are shopping channels, or that six of the channels are public access. They just want all of the channels.

On the other hand, many have grown tired of trying to wade past all of the junk on the television dial, trying to find something decent to watch. For consumers who have recently purchased a new HDTV, TurboHD by DISH Network might be the right choice.

There are three different choices with Turbo HD from DISH Network, the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. All of these packages are made up of hi def channels only. Pricing starts at about $24.99 per month for the Bronze package. That package does not include your local channels like ABC and Fox, which cost $5 more per month.

DISH Network also offers the Platinum level, which is an additional service to any of the other TurboHD levels. The Platinum level is ten bucks a month, and includes seven additional HD channels such as MGM HD and Universal HD.

One sticking point with some current DISH Network subscribers is they have not been allowed to switch over to the TurboHD packages. Currently only new customers to DISH Network have been allowed to get the TurboHD bundles. Current customers can get Turbo HD, but only as an add-on to the standard package they already have.

Another item to consider is in how DISH Network is counting the networks included in the bundles. Take for example the Turbo HD Bronze setup which includes forty-four channels, of which 24 are network channels, six are pay-per-view, and 14 are VOD, (video on demand) channels. Some would consider that plenty but others are accustomed to having quite a bit more content to choose from. A final consideration, none of the TurboHD levels include premium movie channels like Starz or Showtime, so don’t be surprised when you have to pay more for commercial free channels like that. For more detail on these packages, check out the Turbo HD review.

Ever since its creation, Americans have always been fascinated by the TV. It is a worldwide phenomenon and is currently the leading form of media ahead of print media and radio media. Although the internet has taken away some interest, the television is still the number one source of all news and entertainment programs we all love and crave. From cartoons to reality shows to TV series, they all occupy our time and keep us entertained. There are a lot of different shows available however not all TV companies give us all the shows we want or sometimes give the shows we don’t want. Good thing there are a number of television providers to choose from.

If having local television just doesn’t work for you then the next option is to subscribe to a cable company. There are a lot of different packages cable companies offer and they have different channels. It may be Time Warner cable, Cox, Comcast cable, Charter cable or Bright House cable, they have different packages to offer and it depends solely upon your taste which one is the best.

Then there is a choice of satellite television providers between Dish network and Direct TV. Satellite television offers the most choices of channels and programs and they usually have more of the channels then cable television has. However, this is the most expensive choice as you have to buy a satellite receiver. Today, there are plenty of Direct TV offers out there designed to get you set up at a very low cost, or no cost at all.

Whatever your taste is, there are a lot of different options to choose from to satisfy your every day television needs. One of the smart things to do before selecting a pay TV provider is to compare services. A nice low-cost option out there currently is the DirecTV Choice package. Doing a side by side comparison of Direct TV versus Comcast will give you an idea of which company gives you the channels and services you want. That way you can decide if you want cable or satellite TV. Of course, keep an eye on things as at any time there could be a change in Direct TV charges.

That way you can be sure everyone in the family is happy with their entertainment choice.

Which is the better choice? People in the USA are now more likely to order satellite TV over cable TV for the bottom line reason that you receive more for your money with satellite television. You also get all of the best that television has to offer the customer. Not to mention the better price as well. Satellite television costs less than cable by far. These days with satellite TV, you will be getting hundreds of audio and video channels with your package. Cable companies charge you by how many channels you have, and that can add up in a hurry. Better yet, today you can get a satellite TV system at no charge.

If you want any extra premium channels such as HBO or Cinemax, get ready with your cash, because you have to be prepared to spend a lot of extra money. They don’t provide you with any service at all in the rural areas, thus satellite television is the only game in these regions of the county. Cable will offer more channels in the urban type areas, as there they have the potential for many more subscribers. So at times, a lot may depend on where you live in the country. While they are offering more pay channels in the suburban parts of the country, the number of channels you will receive overall depends on the cable operator, they aren’t always up to date with the most modern technology.

Satellite TV on the other hand offers many more options, and lots of programs that fit your interests. If you haven’t ever considered satellite TV, it may be time to open your mind to all that is now out there. As mentioned earlier you will pay less for the cost for satellite TV when comparing it to cable. Usually, cable can be very expensive because they have a large network to upgrade and maintain.

If you are the type of person that wants more for your money, and who isn’t like that, the certainly check into the two large satellite companies offering service to see what the can offer you today. Another point to consider is quality. Most of us have had the experience of receiving poor quality picture or sound from the cable company. Then when you call for resolution, it takes forever for a technician to come out and fix the problem. While you may experience problems from time to time with satellite TV, overall they have better customer service. Many satellite television companies also have deals with local carriers like Verizon and Qwest Communications, so you can have a combined bill.

Satellite television offers the best in digital programming, and they back up their product with excellent service. With satellite TV you can also receive foreign language channels, for example the Direct TV Russian package and the DISH Latino Spanish bundle are good foreign languge choices. Finally, if you have a family, including young children you can find much more for them to watch. There literally hundreds of family and children’s programs for you to pick from. Add to that a DVR, and you will always be able to entertain the kids. If great content is all you want, Dish Network even offers 100% HD packages now, called Turbo HD Gold.
