If you’ve caught your spouse cheating and there was no chance of going back to the way things were, the relationship ended. Once your spouse is gone, though, you may be left wondering where you go from here. What are you supposed to do when the cheating spouse leaves?
Simply put, you move on. Now of course that is much easier said then done. You may have spent the better part of your life with this individual. Maybe they were your first and only love and you have just a horrible feeling off loss. How are you supposed to just move on?
It is natural to take some time after the end of the relationship. You are going to need a little time to heal. During that healing process though, you cannot shut down. You have to lay the groundwork on getting to the next stage of your life and the first part of that is getting your ex-spouse out of your life. You need to get everything in that house that reminds you of them out so you don’t have a daily reminder of them smacking you in the face each and every day. This is obviously much tougher if you have children, but you can still remove the physical aspect of them from the house.
After you heal, it is time to get back out there. You surely don’t want to be alone for the rest of your life and you deserve to be happy. They are the one that screwed up and you should not be punished for that. And now you know what to look for. Whatever you do, don’t rush into anything, take your time and get to know the person. If you see signs that you are unfortunately already familiar with, get out and look for someone else. There are good people out there, you just have to find them. It may take a little while before you trust anyone again, but eventually, that special someone will come out of the woodwork and you will wonder what you were ever doing with the other guy in the first place.
Picking up the pieces and moving on is never easy. It’s going to be a lot of hard work, but it has to be done. You have to learn to enjoy your life. If you don’t, you are only going to give your ex the satisfaction of having tainted you forever. Find your own happiness and leave all of the misery behind you.
